Hempland Primary School

Located on Whitby Avenue is a co-educational school for children aged from 4 to 11 years of age. It is a modern attractive building in pleasant surroundings comprising fourteen classrooms, a teaching and learning centre with quiet rooms and an ICT suite.

Heworth Christ Church

Located on Stockton Lane is the only place of worship within the Parish. As well as Sunday Services, and other community related activities, the church also hosts many other regular activities and events including Cubs/Scouts/Guides; a Toddler group for babies to pre-school children, plus their carers, a Senior Fellowship Group for retired people and a breakfast club.

Heworth Without Community Centre

The centre, located on Applecroft Road (next to Stray Road Playarea) hosts various activities throughout the week including a Mother and Baby group run by local parents, a Martial Arts group, Keep Fit activities, Life Drawing classes and a Model Railway group.
